Amanda Cohen, director and choreographer, received her BFA from the University of Michigan. What began as a passion for dance soon grew to a passion for musical theater. After multiple positions as the dance captain on musicals such as Once on this Island and Tommy, Amanda became more involved in direction and management. She decided to pursue a degree in performance, with a concentration in directing. Now, like her idol Bob Fosse, Amanda both directs and choreographs the musicals she produces. Her other passions include coffee ice cream and dark chocolate!

Miss Cohen's mission is to show audiences that theater is not merely meant to entertain, but rather can be extended into an educational tool. She states, "Children are so impressionable, that as an instructor, it is my duty to make a positive influence. Whether it is a lack of confidence, speech issues, or coming of age insecurities, theater is medicinal. Performing arts has made a huge impact on my life for the better, I hope that the work I do extends beyond the walls of the theater."

Miss Cohen hopes that audiences will walk away learning something new with every performance they view. "A theater director's job is to shed light on what it means to be a human and what it means to live in our society. It is not enough to 'enjoy' a performance. I want audiences to learn something about themselves they weren't aware of before, or to reflect on their own lives as they see the experiences of the characters unfold. It is not enough to produce theater, I am here to be a professional storyteller and journalist. I hope to make an impact on the lives of performers and audiences alike, as well as shed light on the human condition."
